About

Jake Sawatzky

Dedicated to serving our community with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to building a better future for all Canadians

Jake is a neuroscience graduate from the University of British Columbia and now serves as the Member of Parliament for New Westminster–Burnaby–Maillardville! In his role, he is the Chair of the Youth Caucus, serves on the House of Commons Standing Committees on Finance and Health, and is one of the most vocal advocates for mental health in the country.
Jake grew up with his family teaching him to instill and carry forward their Ukrainian, Scottish, and German heritage. A lifelong advocate for mental health, Jake has a long history of fundraising for causes that make an impact - whether it was through his first ever fundraising concert to raise funds to install stoves in Guatemala or through raising nearly $200,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association through his university hockey initiative (Drop the Puck for mental health).
Jake’s top priorities as your Member of Parliament comprise of mental health, public safety, affordability, employment, and housing. Above all though, it is to ensure that his team is doing the absolute best to assist you with federal services and accurately represent your concerns in the House of Commons
